Com. P. Rajeev (Ex MP)

Shri. P. Rajeev was elected to Rajya Sabha on 27th April 2009. He is a native of Meladoor under Thrissur District in Kerala State. He was born to Late P. Vasudevan (Retired Revenue Inspector) and Mrs. Radha Vasudevan. Com.Rajeev completed his schooling at Government Samithy High School, Meladoor and then joined for his pre degree education at Christ College, Irinjalakuda. He graduated in Economics from the St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery and later took his LLB degree from the Government Law College in Ernakulam. Rajeev also holds a diploma in Chemical Engineering from Government Polytechnic, Kalamassery. He was a practicing lawyer at the High Court of Kerala before taking full time political and organizational responsibilities. Rajeev is married to Mrs. A. Vani Kesari who is teaching law at the School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology and they are blessed with two daughters Hridhya Rajeev and Haritha Rajeev.

During his tenure as Member of Rajya Sabha Com. Rajeev took many innovative initiatives in the healthcare and education sector. Much of his MPLAD fund was utilized for this and as a result MRI Scanning is available at Ernakulam General Hospital where it costs only Rs.1800 per scan. The regional dialysis centre opened at Aluva General Hospital is having 23 machines and charging only Rs. 200 per dialysis. The "Reach" programme launched for providing better transport facilities in schools and launching of e - toilets were also well appreciated. Shri Rajeev received many awards and recognitions for his novel interventions in public sphere. This includes Chief Minister's Awards for Innovation in Public Policy and Lions Club Award for leadership excellence.

Shri. Rajeev visited Cuba, to attend the World student and Youth Festival, 1997; U.K., as a member of media team along with the Prime Minister of India, 2005; Brazil, Cuba and Germany as a member of the media team along with the Prime Minister of India, 2006; Oman, U.S.A., South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Sweden and Denmark, as a member of delegation led by the Hon. Speaker, Lok Sabha, Pakistan, U.A.E. and Saudi Arabia.

Rajeev was a member of Indian delegation to the UN General Assembly in 2013.
